Wellion LUNA UA uric acid test strips - for measurement from one drop of blood
Regular measurement of uric acid levels in the blood can reveal the success of dietary changes and support drug therapies.
Uric acid is a waste product of protein metabolism and is mainly absorbed as a dietary component in meat. At higher concentrations, crystals can form in the joints and cause inflammation – this is referred to as a "gout attack", which can be very painful.
If uric acid levels are elevated, it is recommended to take a measurement once a day with the Wellion LUNA trio meter (a drop of blood is sufficient) in order to monitor the success of a change in diet or drug therapy.
- The normal uric acid range for a healthy man:
3.4–7.0 mg/dL (0.2–0.42 mmol/L) - The normal uric acid range for a healthy woman:
2.4–6.0 mg/dL (0.14–0.36 mmol/L)

With the Wellion LUNA trio meter and the matching Wellion LUNA uric acid test strips, you can conveniently measure your uric acid levels at home. Home testing cannot replace your GP, but it can help you monitor the success of your medication and dietary changes, especially when used in conjunction with regular check-ups.
The Wellion LUNA uric acid test strips are used together with the Wellion LUNA trio meter to measure the concentration of uric acid in capillary blood from your fingertips.
Handling
Wash your hands with soap and water before each use.
Remove the Wellion LUNA uric acid test strip from the test strip container. Insert the test strip into the meter to turn it on. The display will show the 'UA' symbol, the flashing blood drop symbol and the test strip symbol.
Press a lancing device (with a fresh lancet) against the side of your fingertip and press the release button to prick your finger and obtain a drop of blood.
Now hold the tip of the test strip at a slight angle to the blood sample. The test strip will suck up the blood like a straw. The meter will beep to let you know when there is enough blood for the measurement. The display will show a countdown, and after 15 seconds the measurement result will appear on the display.
Useful information
Do not use expired test strips.
Always check the expiry date, which is shown on the test strip box and packaging.
Close the test strip box IMMEDIATELY after removing a test strip to protect the remaining test strips from humidity.
Use the test strip immediately after removing it from the box.
Do not use wet or damaged test strips.
Avoid direct sunlight and heat. Store the test strips in a dry, cool place (not in the bathroom).
Dispose of the used test strip and lancet immediately after measurement.
A Wellion LUNA test strip is a high-tech product. The test strip consists of several layers, into which electrodes are incorporated using a complex process. This measurement generates an electrical current, which is converted by the measuring device into a corresponding uric acid value and displayed on the screen.
